Round Up Of The Weekend's Action

BIRMINGHAM 2 - 1 SUNDERLAND

Steve Bruce's return to St. Andrews was spoilt by his former club as the arrival of Carson Yeung seemed to spur on the home side as goals from Liam Ridgewell and James McFadden sealed the club's third win of the season.

BURNLEY 1 - 3 WIGAN ATHLETIC

Hugo Rodellega was at his best to hit a brace against a Burnley side who's home form was immacualte with wins against the likes of Everton and Manchester United. Coyle's men took the lead through Steven Fletcher early on but two goals from Hugo Rodellega and a header from Emmerson Boyce sealed the victory for Roberto Martinez's side.

HULL CITY 0 - 0 PORTSMOUTH

Two worst teams this season............ enough said

BOLTON 3 - 2 EVERTON

The Trotters prevailed in a thrilling five goal encounter that left Everton 14th in the table and with their dismal performance against Benfica in midweek David Moyes is under intense pressure to salvage their season. Bolton took a 2-0 lead through Chung- Yong Lee and Gary Cahill until Louis Saha pulled one back for Everton with a exquisite 25 yard finish. After the half Marouane Fellaini made it all square with a thunderous shot past Jussi Jaaskalienen but their comeback was short lived as striker Ivan Klasnic ended the contest with a cool finish past Tim Howard.

TOTTENHAM 0 - 1 STOKE

Tony Pulis's men pulled out a suprise victory at White Hart Lane which saw the home side dominate for most of the match. Spurs failed to capatilise and it cost them as in the 86th minute Glenn Whelan nestled the ball into the top corner virtually putting the game to rest after Aaron Lennon had to leave the field due to injury leaving spurs with 10 players on the pitch

WOLVES 1 - 1 ASTON VILLA

Martin O'neil was on a high after their 2-1 victory over Chelsea and the fact that Gabby Agbonlahor had given Aston Villa the lead with 14 minutes to go things looked on the up, however they were soon shot back to reality as Sylvan Ebanks-Blake penalty struck the back of the net with velocity.

MANCHESTER CITY 2 - 2 FULHAM

Roy Hodgson and his team salvaged some pride after their defeat to City in the Carling Cup earlier this season with a well deserved draw after coming back from a two goal deficit. Joleon Lescott and Martin Petrov put the blues ahead but Fulham battled and two goals in each half from Damien Duff and Clint Dempsey made it all square and in all fairness City should have lost the game but Zamora probably made the miss of the year with his open goal effort sailing over the bar.

WEST HAM 2 - 2 ARSENAL

Second half goals from Carlton Cole and Allessandro Diamanti took the pressure of Gianfranco Zola and salvaged an important point after a dominant first half performance from Arsenal with goals from Robin Van Persie and William Gallas.

CHELSEA 5 - 0 BLACKBURN

An under par Blackburn side were hammered by a ruthless Chelsea that saw the return of playmaker Joe Cole; an own goal seperated the sides in the first half from Gael Givet, however Chelsea were dominant after the break as they put four past their opponents; Essien and Drogba got a goal each and Frank Lampard added two to his tally.

LIVERPOOL 2 - 0 MANCHESTER UNITED

Super Sunday could of been the final game of Rafa Benitez's liverpool career; with four straight losses Rafa was in a no-lose situation. In all fairness Man United were below par and Liverpool capatilised on this with goals from Fernando Torres and David N'gog.
